The best sightings happen in calm conditions, so keep in mind that winter swells can make snorkeling more challenging.

Surfing

While it’s not a hot spot for giant waves, Carrizalillo offers beginner-friendly surf most of the year.

Winter brings slightly bigger swells for those ready to level up.

For the big leagues, head to Zicatela or La Punta.

Playa Carrizalillo is fairly close to the Centre of Puerto Escondido. The best way to get there is by taxi.

Once there, you do need to descend a long set of stairs.

The journey down the stairs can be steep and long but it is definitely worth the beach access.

Playa Carrizalillo is a must-visit if you’re in Puerto Escondido.

It’s picture-perfect, peaceful, and exceeded all of our expectations. Pictures can’t really capture it’s beauty.

This beach will win you over with it’s crystal blue waters and soft sandy beach. An amazing place to even just take a peek at from the top of the stairs.
