Traveling through California is like flipping through pages of the most colorful and dynamic storybook – every page is more stunning and diverse than the next.
Northern California offers towering redwoods in Humboldt County, where you can wander beneath these ancient redwoods making you feel wonderfully small. And just a few hours away, Mendocino’s rugged coastline and quaint villages will charm you into staying longer than planned.
Central California is pure gold. Literally. From the golden grasses of the Central Valley to the historic charm of the Gold Rush towns like Columbia, you’ll find history, agriculture, and hospitality at every stop. Venture into Yosemite National Park, where granite giants like El Capitan and Half Dome remind you of nature’s power and artistry.

Camping: California’s state and national parks offer incredible camping opportunities, from the beaches of Santa Cruz to the redwoods of Humboldt County. Be sure to book campgrounds early, especially during the summer peak seasons.
Travel Costs: California can be pricy, especially in major cities like and tourist hotspots. Budget travelers can save by eating at local food trucks, staying in hostels, and exploring free attractions like state parks and beaches. However there are plenty more options for luxury travelers, as California has some of the most expensive, high-end resorts in the world.
Transportation: While cities like San Francisco and L.A. have public transportation, renting a car is often the best way to get around California’s sprawling regions. Road trips along scenic routes like Highway 1 are a must! But if just visiting one city, you can get by with Uber or Lyft.
Beaches: California’s coastline is legendary, with beaches for every vibe. Relax somewhere in southern California for glamorous shores and surfing or explore tide pools further up north in central California. Northern parts of California have beautiful beaches as well but these are typically colder and windier in climate.
Currency: The official currency of U.S.A is the dollar (US).
Many U.S. shops, restaurants, and hotels accept credit cards, especially in larger cities.

Northern California is a treasure of incredible destinations, from the iconic Golden Gate Bridge in San Fransisco to the serene vineyards of Napa Valley – and of course you can’t forget the breathtaking views of Yosemite National Park. Be sure to pack layers if visiting in the winter or spring months as the weather can change swiftly here, with the summer months sometimes reaching temperatures in the high 90-100’s.
2. Southern California
Southern California is all about sunshine, sandy beaches, and laid-back vibes. From the glitz of Los Angeles to the family-friendly fun of Disneyland, there’s no shortage of exciting destinations. The weather here is famously warm, but don’t underestimated the cool coastal breezes so packing layers is a good idea.
