Why the Palm Springs Surf Club Is Worth Visiting
When you picture Palm Springs, California, you probably think of sunshine, sparkling pools, and afternoons spent relaxing beneath the palm trees. The Palm Springs Surf Club offers all of that—with the unexpected addition of impressive waves in the middle of the desert.
Whether you want to surf, cool off in the pool, or simply relax in a cabana while watching the action, it’s an incredibly fun way to spend a day in Palm Springs.
Surfing in the Middle of the Desert
The massive wave pool is easily the most exciting part of the Palm Springs Surf Club. Instead of waiting for unpredictable ocean conditions, surfers can reserve sessions designed around different experience levels and wave settings.
Watching the surfers is entertaining even if you aren’t getting in the water yourself. Our group booked a surf session, while the rest of us relaxed nearby and watched the waves roll through. It created the perfect balance: part surf trip, part Palm Springs pool day.
Surf sessions should be reserved in advance, especially if you’re visiting on a busy weekend. Boards and wetsuits are also available to rent if you don’t want to bring your own equipment.
Book a Cabana for the Full Experience
If you’re visiting with a group, booking a cabana is one of the best ways to experience the Surf Club. It gives everyone a comfortable home base where you can get out of the sun, leave your belongings, and relax between activities.
The cabana service was one of the highlights of our visit. Our servers regularly checked in with us and made it incredibly easy to order food and drinks without having to leave the pool area. Everything felt relaxed and attentive without being overbearing.
Our reservation also included a $100 food-and-beverage credit, which made the cabana feel much more worthwhile. Packages and inclusions can change, however, so confirm what is included when you make your reservation.
The Surf Club’s current cabanas can accommodate as many as eight guests and include personal service, loungers, televisions, and private temperature-controlled dip pools. If you don’t need an entire cabana, poolside daybeds are another option.
More Than Just Surfing
Although surfing is the main attraction, you don’t have to surf to enjoy the day. The seasonal waterpark includes a lounge pool, lazy river, waterslides, and a splash area. We spent most of our time around the surf pool and cabana, but the waterpark makes the Surf Club especially appealing for families or groups with different interests.
General admission waterpark passes are typically sold separately from cabanas, daybeds, and surf sessions, so look closely at what your reservation includes before arriving.

Is the Palm Springs Surf Club Worth It?
For a special occasion, group trip, or memorable Palm Springs weekend, the Palm Springs Surf Club is absolutely worth considering. It combines the energy of a surf park with the easygoing atmosphere of a desert resort.
The cabana made our day particularly enjoyable. We could watch the surfing, cool off in the pool, order food whenever we wanted, and spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing together. It felt like an experience rather than simply another day at a hotel pool.
If you’re planning a Palm Springs getaway and want to try something different, reserve a surf session, gather a group for a cabana, and give yourself plenty of time to enjoy the property. There aren’t many places where you can watch perfect waves break against a backdrop of palm trees and desert mountains—and that’s exactly what makes the Palm Springs Surf Club such a memorable place to visit.
