How do I get to Avila Beach and what’s the parking/transportation like?

Getting to Avila Beach is fairly straightforward: the nearest airport is San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport (SLO), about 15 minutes away.

If you’re driving, note that the town has one main road plus access via adjacent roads and trails.

Parking can be tight, especially on weekends and during events, so consider arriving earlier, staying in town (so you walk rather than drive), or use the free trolley.

There are specific rules for different beaches in Avila. Dogs are allowed off-leash at certain beaches such as Fisherman’s Beach and Olde Port Beach but not on the main downtown beach.
